With the aim of supporting the production of Mexican documentary films, Gucci and Ambulante established an alliance in March of 2007 and created The Gucci/Ambulante Grant, which will fund documentary projects.
The grant supports feature length documentary films that have concluded the production stage by providing them up to MX$400,000 to finish their projects. The Gucci/Ambulante Grant will back projects that focus on social or human rights issues.
In 2007, Ambulante and Gucci backed the following films: Chrsitiane Burkhard’s Trazando Aleida, Roberto Hernández’s El Externante, and Natalia Almada’s El General .
And in 2008 , Juan Carlos Rulfo and Carlos Hagerman’s Los que se quedan , as well as Luis Rincón’s El árbol olvidado .
The 2009 call for entries will be announced next year.
