Since 1993, more than 400 women have been brutally murdered in Ciudad Juarez and Chihuahua in northern Mexico. These crimes remain unsolved, and the official investigations have been plagued by irregularities and negligence, including the manipulation of evidence and the use of torture to obtain confessions. Dual Injustice is the personal account of one family that has suffered both of these injustices: 20 year-old student Neyra Cervantes disappeared from her school in May 2003, and two months later her remains were discovered. When her cousin David Meza pressured the authorities to properly investigate the case, he himself was detained, and then tortured to confess to Neyra's murder. "Dual Injustice illustrates the tragic reality of families suffering the loss of a daughter, sister or mother in Ciudad Juarez and Chihuahua, Mexico. We must find ways to work together to help bring an end to these ongoing murders." -Congresswoman Hilda L. Solis (D-CA)
